Kundalini Yoga & Mediation with Mahan Kalpa

SUN Date: 03/03/2019 - 04/07/2019 From: 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

A six-class series that covers the basics of Kundalini Yoga and meditation: Learn to prepare your body for the slow and safe rising of kundalini energy.

Kundalini Yoga is an efficient pathway to enlightenment for the householder. It is a system that was developed specifically for those who want to maintain spiritual connection while living the busy life of a modern member of western society.

In each class, we will do a set of yogic exercises that will prepare you for deep meditation. We will ground your finite self in physical reality so that your infinite self may be experienced through long mantra meditation. Each class will include a mediation of 11 to 31 minutes in length.

If you have a desire to clear your mind, and have had difficulty with meditation in the past, this class is perfect for you. Kundalini Yoga meditations often include mudra, mantra, and drishti (eye focus) to help occupy and soothe the subconscious mind.

Benefits:
Improve brain functioning by increasing connectivity, improving memory, and decreasing mood aberration.

Mahan Kalpa is a KRI certified Kundalini Yoga instructor that studied directly with Yogi Bhajan and has 17 years of experience as a teacher and practitioner.

Holy Roller

FRI Date: 03/29/2019 - 03/29/2019 From: 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm

In an asana practice, the physical work is that of activating muscle and soft tissue. We use the shapes to train, explore, engage, even ‘stretch’ the body. This is an important element of the practice and a part of that healing. There is beautiful and valuable work in there; a potential for growth and a possibility to be and do more. However as thoughtful and attentive as we may be in movement, there are still patterns, habits, old beliefs and practices held tight in the tissue under the skin.

The Holy Roller class is a way to bring the therapeutic practice of Self Myofascial Release (SMR) to our yoga mat and practice. Simply defined, SMR is a method of bodywork through which tools are used to develop greater ranges of motion and mobility throughout the entire physical form. The effects of this technique are translated through the muscle fiber, the connective tissues surrounding and investing the muscle, nerve, CNS (central nervous system) and even skin and adipose tissue.

FRIDAY 3/29 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM
SATURDAY 3/30 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
SUNDAY 3/31 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

$350.00 for the entire weekend.

This training includes a 1hr 45min Holy Roller public practice as part of the 25hour training.

Core and Pelvic Floor

FRI Date: 04/05/2019 - 04/05/2019 From: 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm

To arrive at understanding from being one’s true self is called nature. To arrive at
being one’s true self from understanding is called culture. –Confucius

Profound insight into ourselves comes to us through both nature and culture. We
arrive at a cognitive understanding because of an experience we have physically.
We know our deep beliefs when in contrast or conflict to others or when we see
ourselves clearly mirrored in others.
This weekend is about putting many of those puzzle pieces together.
We will explore anatomy and exercises of/for the pelvis and core. As we integrate
the information we will see how they play out differently in each body because our
personal histories and experiences differ. In contrast, we will study and discuss
yoga history and philosophies as a way to come to a deeper understanding of who
we, as individual embodied beings, are in the world and in our own bodies.
As all of these pieces, perspectives, and paths come together we create an incredibly
rich and diverse experience with ourselves and in relationship to others.

FRIDAY 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM
SATURDAY 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
SUNDAY 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

$350.00 for the entire weekend.

Connecting the Limbs of Yoga

MON Date: 07/01/2019 - 07/01/2019 From: 6:21 am - 6:21 am

In our 200 hour training we learn of the 8 fold path of yoga consists of yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi. We learn intellectually that all of these limbs are very much integrated, but for the sake of convenience they are often deconstructed as independent components. This course will explore how pranayama (breath control) and dhyana (meditation) independently function and how when all of the limbs merge together to support and create the Yoga of devotion (bhakti).

Come prepared to learn how to practice and how to teach various pranayama and meditation techniques. We will explore how asana can support pranayama and meditation and how pranayama and meditation can support asana.

“A tree has roots, a trunk, branches, leaves, bark, sap, flowers, and fruits. Each one of these components has a separate identity, but each component cannot by itself become a tree. It is the same with Yoga. As all the parts put together become a tree, so all the 8 stages put together form Yoga.” - B.K.S. Iyengar
