The Art of Assisting

Yoga teachers spend countless hours curating and perfecting how to verbally teach a yoga class. Learning how to effectively offer hands on assists and adjustments can add another layer to powerfully planned classes. Physical touch in the form of hands on yoga assists can help build awareness, ensure ideal alignment, and can facilitate trust and connection between yoga teachers and students. An effectively applied assist can help students reach new potential in poses or can help support ease and surrender in the practice. During this weekend assisting immersion, you will explore:
 
  • Basic skeletal anatomy
  • How to assist confidently, safely and effectively
  • Seamlessly apply assists during your flows
  • How to create trust with your students in order for them to find new potential in poses
  • Understand how to use lines of energy to create powerful assists
  • Learn corrective, supportive, deepening and directional assist for a wide range of poses
  • Explore how different lineages of yoga utilize assists and adjustments
  • Expect ample time to bolster your confidence with continual practical application of assists

Intro Into Yoga

If you think “Down Dog” is what you say to get a dog off the couch, this is the place for you!

Maybe you’ve just started taking classes and you have questions. Or maybe you’ve read about the benefits of yoga for the mind and body and want to give it a try. Or maybe you have a committed yoga practice, but you want to introduce someone you care about to yoga.

This workshop is the perfect place to start. We will break down the fundamentals of the physical practice, explore some of the key concepts that underscore the postures, and cover the practical matters that will help you feel comfortable as you begin (or continue) your yoga journey.

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle, a mat if you have one, or we will provide one, and your questions. Above all, be prepared to have fun!

Hot Basics

Space Maker: A Rad Roller Workshop

A traditional vinyasa practice with a twist, or a roll! This class will combine a slow flowing yoga practice with Self Myofascial Release techniques throughout. This practice will be accessible and appropriate for beginners as well as more advanced practitioners.

Seeding Intention: A Practice for the Full Moon

Inversion Prep Workshop - Handstand / Forearm Stand

This inversion prep workshop will be focusing on handstand and forearm stand. It is designed to be a space to discuss the mechanics and options of getting into, being in, and getting out of these postures. Functional Sequencing - an Outside the Box Take on Modern Postural Yoga

The modern postural yoga practice in the West has spend decades following a similar basic outline. Where did it come from and why?
What would happen if we broke out of that box and opened up our world of possibilities? What could we learn, what could we teach?
This practice has the potential to offer students a framework within which we explore the reality of living in these bodies.
Science is a system of asking thoughtful questions.
Learn to turn your teaching into the science of exploration with thoughtful and intelligent sequencing.
Learn to use physicality to guide students on an exploration of their inner selves, while doing the deep work of a teacher and sharing your own experiences and understanding.
Learn interesting and creative ways to unpack asana and postures, and the critical thinking skills involved in developing new ways to approach classic movements.
Learn how to implement functional strength building moves into classes as a way to prep the body, and develop the connections needed for more complicated practices.
This training will give you plenty to think about when prepping your classes, and a whole new outlook on what's possible in a yoga class, how we can honor and teach from a classical practice while bringing in a modern creative perspective.

Thai Yoga Massage for Well-Being

Thai Yoga Massage for Well-Being introduces the practitioner to the fundamentals of this form of bodywork – concentrating on ease of movement, the philospohy of Metta (Loving Kindness) and Sen Kalathari, the energy line that governs our most basic functions.
 
Through movement, stretching, intention and direct pressure, the student learns to manipulate the muscles, energies and joints improving physical, mental and emotional function throughout the entire being. A great beginner course, this is also a perfect refresher for the seasoned practitioner and includes a yogic base for exploring aspects of giving and receiving each posture in this 1.5 hour Thai Yoga Massage sequence.

200 Hour Teacher Training Intensive

Welcome to the Vibe Yoga Summer Intensive 200 Hour Teacher Training Course!

 

Over the next 6 weeks, you will learn the foundation of teaching an “open level” power vinyasa yoga class. By the end of the training, you will have the resources to lead a safe and meaningful yoga class and a strong foundation to begin your journey as a yoga teacher. This year we are pleased to announce Vibe's 200 hour teacher training will be held at Caliente Fitness (2620 N. Walnut Street) just two minutes North of Vibe.

 

By the end of the course you will be able to:


-->Prepare a 60 minute yoga class.

-->Teach the class with proper breath, posture, and anatomical cues.

-->Provide accurate demonstrations and workshop posture breakdowns, assist your students as needed.

-->Clearly convey your knowledge of yoga philosophy to support your students in asana, pranayama, meditation, and general guidance through the practice.

-->Understand basic anatomy and physiology relevant to yoga to support your cues and explanations.

-->Explain yoga systems and terminology including but not limited to the Kosha System, Chakra System, and concepts surrounding the eight limbs of yoga.

-->This course will cover the entry level materials that prepare you for the 300 hour advanced studies opportunities that follow if you choose.

-->Once the course is completed you will have the certification required to apply for Yoga Alliance credentials if desired.

From Burnout to Bliss

All humans have the capacity to hit burnout (a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress) be it school, work, relationships, thought patterns, or all of the above. This course is designed to be proactive in preparing yoga instructors with the lifestyle skills that can help us avoid burnout. Come restock your teaching tool kit with resources and recharge your own vitality with a weekend of self care.

 

We will explore tools and techniques to cultivate your energy to work for you rather than against you. We will learn practices from yoga, meditation, Ayurveda and modern science that support healthy choices that can sustain your work in the world. We will discuss the lessons of impermanence and develop an individualized support system to keep each of us growing and glowing in our bliss.

 

In each session please bring:
Anything you need for yoga and meditation practice(bolsters, blocks, straps, and blankets will be provided. Each practice will be a gentle vinyasa sequence that you can make as mild as you wish. A journal and a pen for writing, reflecting, and note taking. The books from the recommended book list that will be emailed to you following enrollment.

 

$350.00 for the weekend. 

 

Friday: 5:30pm-9:30pm
