200hr Online Yoga Teacher Training January 2020 - 4 Month Program

Welcome to the Vibe Yoga 4 Month Online 200 hour Teacher Training Course!

Over the next 4 months, you will learn the foundation of teaching an “open level” power vinyasa yoga class. By the end of the training, you will have the resources to lead a safe and meaningful yoga class and a strong foundation to begin your journey as a yoga teacher. This year we are pleased to announce Vibe's 200 hour teacher training will be held virtually via Zoom. 
 

By the end of the course you will be able to:

-->Prepare a 60 minute yoga class.

-->Teach the class with proper breath, posture, and anatomical cues.

-->Provide accurate demonstrations and workshop posture breakdowns, assist your students as needed.

-->Clearly convey your knowledge of yoga philosophy to support your students in asana, pranayama, meditation, and general guidance through the practice.

-->Understand basic anatomy and physiology relevant to yoga to support your cues and explanations.

-->Explain yoga systems and terminology including but not limited to the Kosha System, Chakra System, and concepts surrounding the eight limbs of yoga.

-->This course will cover the entry level materials that prepare you for the 300 hour advanced studies opportunities that follow if you choose.

-->Once the course is completed you will have the certification required to apply for Yoga Alliance credentials if desired.

 

Teaching Methods:

Lecture, demonstration, discussion, role-plays, interactive activities, personal reflections, in class and out of class assignments.

Saturday 9am-6pm (1 hour break for lunch)

Intro into Yoga Workshop: Balances

Starting a yoga practice can feel daunting. This workshop is designed to set you up to feel successful on your mat by demystifying the practice. Common postures will be introduced, props will be explored in order to make the practice accessible to all bodies, and there will be time to answer any questions that you might have about finding the right yoga class for you. Balancing postures can offer unique challenges. This workshop will focus on alignment and technique to help you confidently explore postures with balancing components. A perfect series for students who are interested in practicing yoga in public studio classes or developing a home practice, this series will offer the foundation needed.

Self-Care Saturday: Wellness Retreat with Slow Flow Yoga and Art [Virtual through the EMA]

Virtual Workshop through the Eskenazi Museum of Art
 
Treat yourself to a restorative workshop for well-being.
Join us to find your center through yoga, meditation, art making, self-exploration, and journaling.

This workshop, a two-hour exploration of personal wellbeing through mindful movement, breath, reflection, and art making, is facilitated by Taryn Kintanar (Vibe Yoga Studio) and Lauren Daugherty (Eskenazi Museum of Art).

Participants bring a yoga mat, towel, water, an old book to repurpose as an art journal or some paper, as well as some art supplies. Some example supplies are colored pencils, paper, magazines for collage, a glue stick, and scissors, but bring any and all art materials you may like to use.

Taryn Kintanar is the Studio Manager at Vibe Yoga Studio and has been practicing yoga for 11 years. She continues to come back to practice for its power to center her.

Lauren Daugherty is an art therapist and Arts-based Wellness Experiences Manager at the Eskenazi Museum of Art, where she provides art therapy groups, individual art therapy sessions, and wellness experiences.

Inversion Workshop

Looking for a chance to practice or explore with arm balances and getting upside down? Join in on the fun as you warm up with several sun salutations to prepare the body for finding flight and standing on your hands. No experience required for this workshop.

 

Arm balances and inversions can be an intimidating part of the yoga practice with the potential to bring up doubt and fear. However, these postures can be explored in a number of ways that instill confidence and a sense of personal power. Consider letting go of the attachment to the results and get playful in your approach during this 75-minute practice. Join Amy as you warm the body, tap into the strength of your center, and approach arm balances and inversions with a sense of curiosity. Brand new to arm balances and inversions? This class was designed with you in mind!

Fascia Informed Asana with Derek Cook

The more we study and observe this omnipresent - and anything other extraneous anatomical packing material - the more we understand its crucial role in absorbing and transmitting loads in the body. Where we've mostly looked toward muscles and bones to do the work of moving and holding us up, by shifting the perspective to fascia, in all its permutations, and with an eye to how its built, it heals and it grows - we can develop a much deeper working knowledge of effective ways to build, explore and even sequence and cue the asana we know and love.
 
This module will offer both personal inquiry and revelations as well as tools to add to your teacher toolbox - helping you first to feel and embody then to share what you discover. Each session will include an hour long public class with time to dissect and discuss the sequencing and content within. Additionally there will be ample time practice-teaching and sequencing based on this foundational understanding. 20 Hours of CE credits available through Yoga Alliance.
 

About Derek

Derek is an experienced bodyworker, yoga teacher and internet ordainer reverend preaching the gospel of the human form. His study has led him deep down the path of not only asana and movement, but of the physical mechanics and philosophical intricacies of the human experience. As an anatomy teacher and bodyworker Derek has honed his understanding of the form and function of the human body, both in the laboratory setting alongside world renowned fascia expert and anatomical explorer Dr. Gil Hedly, and through working with countless moving bodies of all sorts.. Derek has developed a passion for sharing the beauty of the physical form and helping others to see how through understanding we have the power to heal within our grasp. You can find Derek teaching from his home in the DC Metro, offering intelligent functional movement focused vinyasa classes, or his special blend of self myofascial release in asana he calls Holy Roller.
