Slow Flow in Bryan Park

Get out of your routine and outside for this socially distant class at Bryan Park!  We will practice an ALL LEVELS slow flow under the trees while listening to music on our new SoundOff wireless headphones. 
 
Bring your mat, a mask, and any additional props you prefer for your practice.  All levels welcome!
 
We'll send out the exact location and best parking lot to use the day before the event.

SUP Yoga

Take your yoga practice outside and on the water for the ultimate social distancing yoga experience. Delight your senses as the breeze brushes against your skin and the birds sing a live setlist. While the boards are quite stable and the asana will be appropriate for the challenge, so it is even more important to tune into your practice, your hand and foot placement, moving mindfully through your transitions. Feel how your stabilizing muscles are revealed and challenged.

We’ll paddle to a quiet spot on Griffy Lake and settle in for a full yoga practice, complete with a floating savasana. Class time will be 1.5 hours total from launch to return.

Prior experience both on the paddle board and with yoga is recommended. And you must be able to swim. If you are new to SUP and wish to acquire some new skills first, try one of the many introductory classes offered by the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department.

*Boards, paddles, anchors and life jackets are provided and included in cost.
*This class meets in Griffy Lake parking lot.

Instructions + Additional Information:
* Please arrive with sunscreen already applied.
*The less you carry with you, the better your experience will be. Water and a bandana (for your eyes during final relaxation) are encouraged. Hats and sunglasses are also acceptable.
*Your instructor will carry your car keys.
*What to wear: loose fitting, comfortable clothing and flip flops. We paddle barefoot, but flips are great for getting to the doc.
*$40 per person ($35 for Vibe auto-renewing members + yearly members)
*$8 board fee included in the cost to students

*We recommend you have some experience practicing yoga on land prior to trying for the first time on water.
*You will get a quick paddle lesson before we launch but we suggest trying one of the beginning classes first if you have no previous paddling experience. Getting to our practice location requires some paddling skills.
*Must cancel 24 hours in advance or lose the pass.
*Timely cancellations can be saved and used towards a different SUP paddle event.
*Only 5 person capacity per class.
*At least 2 people must be signed up for the event to run.

From Burnout to Bliss

Part of this training will be a socially distant offsite retreat.  We will get to retreat to a beautiful house in Bloomington and spread out as we work through this course.  The weekend will be a mix of in person, virtual zoom sessions, and self study. 
 
This is a revitalizing course and open to both teachers in training and public as the teaching component is limited, but the sharing of bliss is universal
 
 
All humans have the capacity to hit burnout (a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress) be it school, work, relationships, thought patterns, or all of the above. This course is designed to be proactive in preparing yoga instructors with the lifestyle skills that can help us avoid burnout. Come restock your teaching tool kit with resources and recharge your own vitality with a weekend of self care.

 

We will explore tools and techniques to cultivate your energy to work for you rather than against you. We will learn practices from yoga, meditation, Ayurveda and modern science that support healthy choices that can sustain your work in the world. We will discuss the lessons of impermanence and develop an individualized support system to keep each of us growing and glowing in our bliss.

 

In each session please bring:
Anything you need for yoga and meditation practice(bolsters, blocks, straps, and blankets will be provided. Each practice will be a gentle vinyasa sequence that you can make as mild as you wish. A journal and a pen for writing, reflecting, and note taking. The books from the recommended book list that will be emailed to you following enrollment.

A Deep Dive into Deities

The asana practice is loaded with poses named after gods and goddesses. The tales, lore, and symbolism that surround these deities can offer deep meaning and connection to the practice.

 

During this weekend, dive deeply into the tales of the deities in order to illuminate the wisdom and lessons threaded into the poses that bear their name. Expect to cover Hanuman, Nataraj, Ganesha, Virabhadra, Astavakra, and others.

 

Once you have learned about the deities, you will use their stories as a vehicle to deliver deeply personal and meaningful classes, creating stories meant to empower, enlighten, and inspire your students.

 

If you are a yoga teacher looking to craft deliberate and deep themes or are simply looking to learn more about the richness of this practice, this training is for you.

Michele is a co-owner of Yoga on High, in Columbus Ohio. She is an expereinced 500 hour certified yoga teacher, an IAYT certified yoga therapist and certified iRest Yoga Nidra meditation teacher. Michele has specialized training in trauma sensitive yoga, breathwork, and mindfulness practices, and her teaching draws on 20+ years of direct-contact volunteer service with domestic violence, sexual assault, suicide prevention and human trafficking agencies.

Mindful Motherhood: Pre & Postnatal Teacher Training

This comprehensive course will give you the confidence to teach and empower your students at any stage

During the 2-day training you will:
- Understand the physical, mental & emotional changes a woman experiences during the 9 months
and beyond
- Learn the precautions and modifications necessary to create a safe, empowering prenatal class
suitable for all stages of pregnancy.
- Connect with the tools meditation, breathing techniques, mantra and mudra as grounding &
centering tools for motherhood.

 

Sheri Colosimo is a respected leader in the fitness & wellness industry with 20 years of teaching
experience and senior management. Her classes are a blend of her love of movement, passion
