Welcome to the Vibe Yoga 4 Month 200 hour Teacher Training Course!

Over the next 4 months, you will learn the foundation of teaching an “open level” power vinyasa yoga class. By the end of the training, you will have the resources to lead a safe and meaningful yoga class and a strong foundation to begin your journey as a yoga teacher. This year we are pleased to announce Vibe's 200 hour teacher training will be held at Caliente Fitness (2620 N. Walnut Street) just two minutes North of Vibe.
 

By the end of the course you will be able to:

-->Prepare a 60 minute yoga class.

-->Teach the class with proper breath, posture, and anatomical cues.

-->Provide accurate demonstrations and workshop posture breakdowns, assist your students as needed.

-->Clearly convey your knowledge of yoga philosophy to support your students in asana, pranayama, meditation, and general guidance through the practice.

-->Understand basic anatomy and physiology relevant to yoga to support your cues and explanations.

-->Explain yoga systems and terminology including but not limited to the Kosha System, Chakra System, and concepts surrounding the eight limbs of yoga.

-->This course will cover the entry level materials that prepare you for the 300 hour advanced studies opportunities that follow if you choose.

-->Once the course is completed you will have the certification required to apply for Yoga Alliance credentials if desired.

History of Yoga

Want to learn about the history of yoga? In this course we will cover the origins of yoga from the pre-classical: Vedas, Upanishads and Buddhism to the classical: Patanjali, Sānkhya, Bhagavad Gītā and the post-classical traditions from Ashtānga to Yin. Each session will include reading materials, lecture, discussion and all levels āsana practice.
 
Michael Johnson has been a full-time yoga instructor for nearly two decades and a teacher trainer for 15 years. He has travelled to India and studied many styles and traditions from Aṣṭāṅga Vinyāsa, Bhakti, Karma, Jñāna, Jīvamukti, Rāja, and Restorative to Yin. In addition to teaching ten weekly classes, He is a lead instructor for Asheville Yoga Center's 200hr Teacher Training and 300hr Advanced Training Programs.

On Ramp: Beginning Your Yoga Journey

Maybe you’ve just started taking classes and you have questions. Or maybe you’ve read about the benefits of yoga for the mind and body and want to give it a try. Or maybe you have a committed yoga practice, but you want to introduce someone you care about to yoga.

 

Each session in this series will break down some of the fundamentals of the physical practice, explore some of the key points that underlie the practice, and cover the practical matters that will help you feel comfortable as you being your yoga journey.

 

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle, a mat if you have one, or we will provide one, a water bottle, and your questions. Above all, be prepared to have fun!

Mandala Meeting: Plants & Pranayama

Join us for our second Mandala Meeting: Plants & Pranayama!
 
Pranayama is the yogic practice of exploring prana, life force energy, through breathing exercises. This month, we are exploring the power of the breath and the air that is vital to life, in all forms. Our circle will offer time for plant swapping and sharing, instructor-led breathwork, and conversation. We invite you to bring clippings, bulbs, or potted plants to share with the community. Patricia will lead the group in a selection of gentle pranayama exercises, and we'll discuss the ways in which this work can support your yoga practice, lower stress, and encourage focus.
 
 
You are welcome to bring any of the following items to share:

Beautiful, pest-free clippings of plants, succulents, and herbs
Divided perennials (again pest-free, please!)
Potted plants to donate or clip fromSeeds and bulbs
Books about gardening and plants

Hot Sculpt Teacher Training

Share your passion, your strength, and your grace by attending this Sculpt Teacher Training. This training will provide you with 60 hours of education on a class format that we offer at Vibe, Yoga Sculpt. In this training, we will cover the foundation of yoga postures, study the body in movement, and learn the methodology of teaching this practice to others.

 

This training is ideal if you are interested in surrounding yourself in a learning environment, building tools to become an instructor, or are a current yoga or fitness instructor looking for continuing education.

This course will meet for 44 contact hours and will also require 16 non-contact hours of study. Contact Hours from this program will be qualified Continuing Education Hours with Yoga Alliance per students request.

Yin Yoga Training

Dive deep into the healing art of Yin yoga as taught by Tucker Shelton, M.A., E-RYT 500, YACEP. Tucker's "Yin 2.0" blends traditional Yin with Restorative Yoga, Myofascial Release, guided meditation, Chakra theory, Thai Yoga Massage, and more. This training will provide those who wish to teach Yin yoga with everything they need to get started on a strong footing.
 
An incredibly nourishing experience, this weekend will cover the art of teaching Yin, making ethical and juicy adjustments, guiding meditations, and leading breath work. With four Yin classes (open to the public), there is a chance to immerse yourself in the practices and to try your hand at adjusting students in the poses.

During lecture hours, Tucker will discuss the history, theory, and philosophy behind Yin and Restorative yoga as well as the many other traditions he pulls from to weave his classes together. You will learn how to sequence class plans and modify poses for the many bodies you will encounter as a teacher.

Knowledge of the Details - Applied Anatomy

Yoga asana is a complex and sophisticated art, and as any true artist will tell you, mastery requires unending inquiry. During this weekend, we will train that inquiry on the Modern Postural portion of the practice. We will unpack the intricacies of posture, discuss common cues from an alignment perspective and, together, explore the nuances of how bodies move through asana. This training is designed to open up your perspective and cultivate intelligent curiosity. Bring with you everything you know about posture, alignment, and anatomy, then leave it sitting next to you on your mat - keeping only your deep desire for more information and new points of view.

"I have always worked with my hands as my tools, I’ve been a carpenter, an artist a musician and a sculptor, with a desire to be of service to those around; long before I knew my path as a healer. I came into my body late in life, discovering my love of movement and the physical after a childhood of health problems and weight issues, with physical ailments playing a large part in my formation. After years of misunderstanding and mistreating my body I discovered yoga, and began down the path of healing. Yoga and bodywork revealed a badly hidden obsession with the body, how it works and how to work with it. The study of anatomy became my passion, taking me into medical university labs to explore Integrated Anatomy and research the form and function of fascia with Dr. Gil Headly and to massage tools as a way to work with our own bodies. How to Teach Basics

We often hear the terms basic, intermediate, advanced, and open levels as categories we divide yoga classes into when practicing in a group setting. These categories can mean different things to both teacher and student as we all have a unique experience with the practice of yoga and all of its layers. During our 500 hour teacher training we will go deeper into the discussion, practice, and methods of how to teach to each level while staying committed to the needs of the individual.

In this module you will expand your knowledge on how to:
-sequence for the basic level
-instruct a basic level student
-incorporate props into a basic level class
-deconstruct postures and teach the essence of the pose
-assist for the basic level

The Art of Assisting

Yoga teachers spend countless hours curating and perfecting how to verbally teach a yoga class. Learning how to effectively offer hands on assists and adjustments can add another layer to powerfully planned classes. Physical touch in the form of hands on yoga assists can help build awareness, ensure ideal alignment, and can facilitate trust and connection between yoga teachers and students. From Burnout to Bliss

All humans have the capacity to hit burnout (a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress) be it school, work, relationships, thought patterns, or all of the above. This course is designed to be proactive in preparing yoga instructors with the lifestyle skills that can help us avoid burnout. Come restock your teaching tool kit with resources and recharge your own vitality with a weekend of self care.

 

We will explore tools and techniques to cultivate your energy to work for you rather than against you. We will learn practices from yoga, meditation, Ayurveda and modern science that support healthy choices that can sustain your work in the world. We will discuss the lessons of impermanence and develop an individualized support system to keep each of us growing and glowing in our bliss.

 

In each session please bring:
Anything you need for yoga and meditation practice(bolsters, blocks, straps, and blankets will be provided. Each practice will be a gentle vinyasa sequence that you can make as mild as you wish. A journal and a pen for writing, reflecting, and note taking. The books from the recommended book list that will be emailed to you following enrollment.

Thai Yoga Massage for Well-Being introduces the practitioner to the fundamentals of this form of bodywork – concentrating on ease of movement, the philospohy of Metta (Loving Kindness) and Sen Kalathari, the energy line that governs our most basic functions.
 
Through movement, stretching, intention and direct pressure, the student learns to manipulate the muscles, energies and joints improving physical, mental and emotional function throughout the entire being. A great beginner course, this is also a perfect refresher for the seasoned practitioner and includes a yogic base for exploring aspects of giving and receiving each posture in this 1.5 hour Thai Yoga Massage sequence.
