Abby (Landsman) Gray came to Bloomington in 1992 to attend Indiana University for her undergraduate degree. After spending her junior year studying abroad in Madrid, Spain, she graduated in 1996 with a degree in Spanish Language and a teaching license. She went on to pursue a Masters in Science from IU’s School of Education in Second Language Acquisition, all while teaching Spanish at Jackson Creek Middle School, and meeting her husband, Jeremy Gray. In 2007 their daughter Zoe was born and in 2011 they welcomed Zoe’s brother, Jonah, to the family. She has been teaching Spanish at Bloomington High School South since 2004.
Having been an avid group exercise participant in undergrad, she ultimately transitioned to instructor her senior year in college and has been teaching group fitness since 1996. She started her fitness career at Indiana University’s SRSC, leading step aerobics & strength classes, teaching there for 12 years. Abby ultimately moved on to lead a variety of group exercise formats at the Monroe County YMCA and at Bloomington High School South for almost 8 years. In 2015, Abby joined the Bloomington Body Bar, finding a more functional approach to exercise and a more intentional focus on mental well-being. Following a nagging desire to be more mindful and balanced in her own personal fitness, Abby was drawn to the yoga classes at Vibe where she discovered that yoga (even hot!) really is for everyone, even her! Following her 2019 summer immersion in Barcelona, Spain, which included practicing yoga in Spanish, she feels even more committed to following pursuits that bring her balance, while pursuing invigorating new challenges. Abby is ACE certified and also holds certifications in Bosu and TRX.
